In order to commemorate the publication of “Filming the Fantastic” Mark Sawicki has made available limited edition bookends cast from the sculpture illustrations he created for the book. The humorous cartoon characters depict some of the various individuals Mark has run into in his career as a visual effects cameraman. The first three characters of the series are “The Genius”, “The Blamethrower” and the “Tweakaholic”. These three sum up the categories of pre production, production and postproduction. The Genius is the happy politician who gets the project going and makes everyone happy. The Blamethrower is the one yelling and screaming and “blaming” all through the difficult process of production and the last is the Tweakaholic who goes over every single pixel of the image until it is agonizingly perfect whether it is prudent to do so or not.

Mark is delighted to announce that he has appointed Tennessee based manufacturer Mountainviewstudios.net to cast his bookend art.  The bookends come mounted to a brass plate and include a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artists. Each bookend is limited to 100 castings and will be numbered accordingly.

Mark’s artwork has been featured in several magazines and art galleries. He has also appeared as a guest artist on HGTV’s Carol Duvall show. His charming bookends are sure to be a cherished collectable for fans of visual effects and clay animation art.
